Phil Parnell, the pianist, composer and producer from New Orleans started playing piano at an early age. Phil studied privately with Ellis Marsalis as a teenager, and attended Berklee College of music in Boston in the late 70's. On his return to New Orleans he began working with many different bands in venues in and around the City of New Orleans on Bourbon Street, in hotels and restaurants, at the jazz clubs, and various festivals in and around south Louisiana.

Over the years he has played clubs and concert halls around the world and shared the stage with hundreds of artists, including Lillian Boutte', Bettye Lavette, Astrud Gilberto, Brian Blade, George Porter jr, Bo Diddly, Johnny Vidacovich, Red Holloway and Herlin Riley.

Phil embraces many styles and settings of music and is delighted to go from an electronic, experimental musical situation to a traditional jazz , gospel jazz, rhythm & blues, cabaret, solo piano, or big band scenario. Most recently he has been performing and recording with Jamie Lidell, the Matthew Herbert Big Band, Lillian Boutte' TJ Johnson and Denny Ilett as well as his trio, 'PP3' and writing and producing CDs on his own Village Studio Records label.
